What are the aims of this website.
1.I wish to rescue as many at risk native bee colonies as I can to promote the natural pollination of our native bush environment and also by developing my own version of solar heating and cooling of their hives allow them to be used on a loan basis by local farmers to see if it improves their crop pollination as against just the use of honey bees. I am also hoping to place some hives once well established into local primary schools( subject to location security) as an introduction of the species to school children.
The other aim is to make aware the many people who may come into contact with these amazing insects when trees are removed, land is cleared, or the often strange structures they find themselves in are disturbed. I expect this would mainly refer to arborists, tree fellers, land clearers or home gardeners etc.( A MONETARY REWARD WILL BE PAID FOR ANY SUCCESSFUL RESCUE ACHIEVED) When you call I will come as quickly as possible to relocate the bees, only ( tetragonola carbonaria native stingless bees not apis mellifira honey bees) to a new safe hive structure where they can be carefully nurtured back to full hive strength, this will require some months of care.
What am I asking of people who discover these bees in situations of disruption.

If this is not possible and the nest has been cut into or severed please try to make two cuts approximately 600 mm above and below the hive entrance hole and just place the two halves back together and I will repair the damage when I arrive. It is quite important that the hive is placed up the same way as it was in the tree. I understand that time is precious to working people and it may not be possible to spend a lot of time looking after a cut hive but all I ask is for a quick phone call so that I can get to the site as quickly as possible and save as many bees as I can.

We contacted Keith because the stump on the nature strip near our house, which was home to a native beehive for more than 10 years, was being destroyed and the bees were in danger of losing their hive. We had followed these bees as they worked in our garden over the years and were distressed about the threat to them.
Keith drove some distance to come to our assistance and used his great experience, skill, and patience to save the native bees by coaxing them into a purpose-built hive to allow safe relocation.
Keith waited patiently until sunset until the last of the worker bees returned. He also retrieved as much of the hive material and honey from the log as possible to allow the native bees to re-establish their hive and food stores upon relocation.
We miss our native bees and their hard work in pollinating our garden, but we are very grateful to Keith for his rescue. Without him these native bees would not have survived! “
